Can someone please explain to me all the different versions of WoW and their differences
Main Post:
There are many versions of WoW and I don't understand anything. I'm not sure if I even want to play WoW, but I'm still curious about the differences between the versions and which one is considered to be the best(no bias please) (also no bias due to a certain version being your childhood like the osrs vs rs3 debate)
I have never played WoW or any version of it btw so explain it like im 5 years old I guess. I have played other MMOs tho
But yeah, from what I know, there's normal WoW, Retail WoW(which might be the same as "normal WoW" idk), Classic WoW(which also seems to have alot of different versions inside of itself???) and Season of Discovery whatever that is
Top Comment: There's currently 3 main versions of wow: Retail, Wrath and Classic Retail is the original game with all its expansion and upcoming expansions Wrath is a "copy" of Wrath from around 2010 Classic is a copy of vanilla wow from 2006, but it has 2 extra modes in: Hardcore and Season of Discovery. Hardcore is permadeath mode, you die its over and you gotta make a new character (no exceptions). Season of Discovery is like a new thing Blizzard is trying by adding new mechanics and reworked instances/bosses to Classic, so its trying to be new content for Classic wow

Top Comment: So I see Retail, WoW Classic, Season of Discovery, WotLK and soon Cataclysm. Are these all completely separate games? If so, they essentially took what was in the past an expansion for WoW and made it solely a game in ...
Hello gamers, pls god someone tell me which WoW to play :)

im absolutely lost when it comes to what one i should purchase, theres classic but also like 2 others. Please somebody explain the difference and recommend
Top Comment: You can just buy the subscription and nothing else and test them all out. You can play all the classic games in their entirety with the subscription alone, and you can play all of the older content of retail WoW with the subscription alone. The only thing you don't have access to without extra purchases is the last 10 levels and the new expansion on retail. All the other purchases are just bonuses and nothing that actually unlocks content.

Games that make you go "wow, that is so cool"?
Main Post:
Any games like that? For me I can think of two, Star Citizen, after I figured out the depth of the controls, and A Link Between Worlds (I realize this is a 3DS game), after seeing the 60 FPS 3D. What are some other games that have truly magnificent gameplay elements or features that just take you by surprise?
Top Comment:
arma, generally.
Broke up with WoW after decades, what games can you sink hundreds or thousands of hours into and still come back for more?
Main Post:
So I've played WoW all my life since 2005 until now, sometimes it just doesn't work out. Friends quitting, guilds disbanding, reasons to log in reduce over time. Now I'm in this position and don't know where to go.
The games I was playing on and off during WoW (and still do play on and off)
- Baldur's Gate 3
- Rimworld
- Stellaris
I know from the games I play that I like when a story is told, or when you make your own. Characters you want the best for in the stories you create with them, resource and colony/empire management, modding is a big plus for replayability.
Gonna try Titanfall 2 since I heard it was good, and I did play a lot of shooters like cod and bf1 when I was in my teens.
Top Comment: Well I mean technically my own biggest timesink game is League of Legends. But I would not recommend it to anyone who doesn't have friends to teach them. And even then, idk if I could recommend it. I probably have stockholm syndrome at this point.
Games to play while playing WOW?

What's a second game I can play during downtime while playing WoW?
Top Comment: Not sure about games but Josh Strife Hayes is great second monitor content :3
Do you play any other games besides WoW?
Main Post:
Everytime I get my sub back I have this unconscious urge to throw every other game to the side and only play WoW, whether its because I pay a sub or because FOMO etc. Well time flies and now I realize how time wasting WoW can be, it's almost controlling sometimes lol.
Do you guys play any other games? And if so is WoW still even your main game?
Maybe it's cause I pay for a sub but everytime I get back into it I feel like all my time needs to go to this game to fulfill some arbitrary goal or just doing my pointless dailies every day on every character , even though I have like 600 other games to play.
Top Comment:
Yeah i play a lot of games while i have a sub. I play what I would most enjoy at any moment. some weeks i don't even fill up my vault.
games like Alan Wake 2, League of Legends, FFXIV if there's a new patch, etc...
World of Warcraft alternative?
Main Post:
Any games that are like World of Warcraft in fantasy/real life settings but with better graphics?
Top Comment: Isn't FF14 the de facto alternative?
Single-player games that feel like WoW?
Main Post:
Hi all,
I've recently been looking for games that feel like the WoW experience, with lots of varied and non-humanoid races, interesting classes, grindable skills, and vast storylines and worlds to explore, but without subscription aspects as well as being at least a majority offline.
Do you know any games that fit this criteria?
Top Comment: Kingdoms of Amalur
Other games that scratch the wow pvp itch?
Main Post:
I unsubbed because I wasn’t enjoying this season and need another game. What other games do you find come close to wows pvp? I know some older games like battlerite used to. League of legends comes close for me.
Any other ones out there?
Top Comment: Nope. That is why people keep playing it and dont unsub.
